KBA Authentication for Signers

You have been asked to enter your SSN, and your DOB.

In order to login and sign your documents, you may have to answer some security questions in order to help verify your identity.

The person who sent you these documents has asked that we verify your identity using a method known as knowledge-based authentication (KBA).

This is a very secure way to establish identity, and in order to get started you will need to confirm this information.

Steps to Complete:

Click on the "Accept" button to agree to the legal consent to sign documents online.

Enter your full SSN and DOB into the required fields.

Click on the "Next" button.

Answer the multiple choice questions that appear on the next screen.

If you have answered the questions correctly, then you will be taken to the password screen where you can either create a password for the first time, or enter one that you have previously created.

After the password screen, you will be presented with the documents to read and sign.

If you have previously created a password, but have since forgotten it, you can use the "Forgot my Password" button to begin the reset process by answering more KBA questions first before you can make a new password.

This is a security measure to keep your documents and digital signature safe.

How does this work?

All of the data you provide is stored and transmitted in an encrypted format. Once your identity has been verified, your personal information is stored in a secure environment in full compliance with the ESIGN Act.

The questions are provided by a third party database, so we cannot control the content or type of questions that you will be asked.

If you fail your questions, you can try again, however there is a limited number of attempts each day. If you fail too many times, you will be locked out for 24 hours. This is not something we can bypass. The person / company who sent you the documents can consider changing the type of authentication used, and you might be able to use another method of identity verification.

If you get an error that says “Name and SSN could not be verified” There are a couple of reasons this could be happening. Here are some common reasons for this issue:
  • A spelling error in the name
  • The name doesn’t match legal documents
  • A nickname was entered instead of a legal name
  • A person got married or divorced but didn’t switch their name on existing accounts (car registration, credit loans, mortgages, credit cards, etc.)
  • The name entered included the person’s middle name
  • The name or social security number in the client database is incorrect

Contact the person or company who created the documents you wish to sign, and let them know that you have encountered an issue with the KBA process. They can either make the appropriate update and resend the documents, or they can discuss next steps with you.
