State RON Registration - Ohio

Requirements:

• Review the details on the state website: https://www.ohiosos.gov/notary/become-a-notary-in-ohio/application-process#online-notary-authorization
• You must already be a traditional notary first.
• Take an educational course and pass a test with a state approved Education and Testing Provider.
  • SIGNiX is not an "Education Provider" at this time, as we only train notaries how to use our software, not how to be notaries in their state.

• Sign up with a RON vendor, like SIGNiX
• Purchase a Digital Notary Seal image from a third party vendor that meets the state's requirements.

• Login to the state's website to begin the application process: https://notary.ohiosos.gov/

What is required to enter during the application?

You must provide the state with the certificates showing that you completed your educational course to be a Remote Online Notary. These should be PDF type files saved to your computer that you can upload to the state website.

You will determine the type of technology to be used to perform online notarizations. This may include telling the state which vendor you are using, which will be SIGNiX.

What happens after the application is submitted?

The state of Ohio will contact you about your approval. If there was any issue found within the application, they may email or message you directly to correct it.
